KULT: Divinity Lost - 4th Edition Core Rules

Hardcover Core Rules book

384 pages

“We live in a world where the sun has set.”

KULT: Divinity Lost is a reboot of the highly acclaimed and infamous contemporary horror role-playing game “Kult”, originally released in 1991. This, the 4th edition of Kult, features a completely new rule-set, and the setting is updated to present day. Escape your nightmares, strike bargains with demons, and try to stay alive in a world full of pain, torture, and death.

In KULT: Divinity Lost, the world around us is a lie. Mankind is trapped in an Illusion. We do not see the great citadels of Metropolis towering over our highest skyscrapers. We do not hear the screams from the forgotten cellar where hidden stairs take us to Inferno. We do not smell the blood and burnt flesh from those sacrificed to long forgotten Gods. But some of us see glimpses from beyond the veil. We have this strange feeling that something is not right—the ramblings of a madman in the subway seems to carry a hidden message, and, when thinking about it, our reclusive neighbor doesn’t appear to be completely human when we pass in the hallway. By slowly discovering the truth about our prison, our captors, and our hidden pasts, we can finally awaken from our induced sleep and take control of our destiny.

The PDF version of the Core Rules is included and can be retrieved by a unique code included inside the book.

Horror? Kult nails it!

Horror rpg stories are different and anyone who has played/GM a Horror Rpg knows this. Story and a rich setting is so important, but so also is the rule system. I rank this at the top next to Call of Cthulu. If you want dark elements that are connected to the soul of humanity you need to check this out. Kult, Call of Cthulu, and Vampire the masquerade are the best horror style systems, but this one does a fantastic job incorporating the human condition. What stands out with Kult is that is pulls no punches and gets so downright "dark" it deserves to be recognized with CoC and VtM. If you love horror rpgs you can't ignore this one. It's a masterpiece!!!

Finally!

Loved the game in the 90s, so I was very excited - and a bit nervous - to hear about the new edition. To cut it short: it fully hits the mark. The port of the gameworld from the initial 90s setting is very well executed, the rules are easy-to-use and do not distract from the core of the game: stories that cannot probably get any darker. The book itself is a work of art, the illustrations are gorgeous and fit the atmosphere of the game perfectly.

One tiny thing struck me as odd though (being a non-native speaker from a language using generic gender forms in its grammar). This does not reduce the quality of the game in any shape or form, but the use of pronouns seems to be distinctly... how to put it... 'current year', just as the setting is. Either that, or the English language is losing male pronouns at an alarming rate..

Anyway, phantastic game, phantastic world, phantastic book.

Personal Horror Guaranteed

An excellent book in every account. The game has a fascinating mythos and the system is built around personal horror stories.

A Welcome Return!

Loved kult when it was released in 1990. This new edition of the game does not disappoint. The rules are different but seem pretty quick and interesting. Love what they have done with the setting and the new art style. The many archetypes that are included are interesting and fascinating. Triumphant return of a favorite game of mine.
