Exceedingly weird vibes

I bought this book in the interest of considering settings through the lens of how various beasts and monsters might be trained, tamed and even domesticated in fantasy settings. For this, the book provides various actionable ideas. However, where it stumbles in a most bewildering way is in including various sapient beings amongst the beasts to train and rear. In the foreword, it acknowledges that this could be considered slavery in most sane settings... And then provides tips for TTRPGS games concerning how to get away with it rather than confronting this obvious ethical quandary.

This is carried through in quite a few entries too, most memorably, the section on kobold kids is outright more about how to raise a kobold to be a pet and loyal minion while literally simaltaneously acknowledging that they're just as sapient as any other civilized creature.

I will not be purchasing the second book in the series given the obvious lack of thought put into this aspect of the writing.
