The fourth season of Star Trek: Lower Decks has started airing, adding even more NPCs, creatures, and lore to the Star Trek universe. If you haven’t yet picked up a copy of the Lower Decks Campaign Guide for the Star Trek Adventures roleplaying game, here’s another reason why you might want to do so.
The book contains a chapter called “The Menagerie,” which provides a complete generation system for beasts, creatures, monsters, and more, to delight, challenge and/or terrify your player characters. To illustrate how flexible and adaptable the generation system is, check out this stat block for the cute little creature presented in the episode “I Have No Bones Yet I Must Flee.” It was built using the tools provided in the Lower Decks Campaign Guide and the core rulebook.
Note that the interpretation of Moopsy below is just one possibility; what would your version of “Moopsy” look like?
“MOOPSY” [MINOR]
Deceptively cute, the moopsy is actually a terrifying predatory creature that bites its prey and injects venom that dissolves bone. It then slurps up the prey’s organs and skeletal slush.
