In addition to providing a wealth of stat blocks for non-player characters and creatures, the new Allies and Adversaries Sourcebook for the Star Trek™ Adventures RPG provides a short chapter of guidance on how to create your own original creatures, expanding the possibilities of the Star Trek universe.

 

A short flowchart walks you step-by-step through the process, from determining the creature’s environment and ecological niche, to producing its traits, scale, attributes, departments, focuses, and values, and onward to selecting its talents and special rules. Then, you create or select any relevant attacks and defenses the creature might have, and add any finishing touches, such as the creature’s name, what place it holds in its local culture, if applicable, and a few other questions to consider as you create the creature.

 

For each step of the process, we provide an example so you can see the guidance in action. The stat block below presents the end result of the example creature created through the full process presented in the sourcebook.

 

The core rulebook and the Allies and Adversaries Sourcebook each contain information about non-player character and creature attacks and defenses, talents, and special abilities. They’re designed to be complementary, so combine the contents of the two books to unlock endless creature and NPC generation options.
