Combining The 23rd Century Campaign Guide

In recent weeks, I’ve written about the various sections of The 23rd Century Campaign Guide and how they can help you plan and execute adventures and campaigns evoking the feel and tone of the 23rd century. This week, I’ll cover how, like a clever chef, you can combine elements of The 23rd Century Campaign Guide with the wealth of material already published for the game. A few ideas follow:

 

  • THE KEYHOLE OF ETERNITY: The three-part campaign contained in the first edition Tricorder collector’s box set (also available by itself as a digital release) is set in the 23rd century, and is ideally suited to be combined with the new campaign guide, especially the 2259–2269 time period. As with our other adventures, it would take minimal effort to adapt the campaign to other periods of the century (or an entirely different era of play).
  • SHACKLETON EXPANSE CAMPAIGN GUIDE: The epic campaign spread throughout the Shackleton Expanse gets its start in the 23rd century, and the adventures and mission briefs contained in the book and in the first edition playtest materials can all be used in conjunction with The 23rd Century Campaign Guide.
  • QUADRANT BOOKS AND DIVISION BOOKS: The game line’s Alpha Quadrant and Beta Quadrant supplements and the three Starfleet division supplements each contain material directly related to the 23rd century, including Starfleet information, species introduced or present in the century, and some of the worlds and civilizations featured in the century. The lore and themes all connect to the contents of the new campaign guide.
  • THE KLINGON EMPIRE CORE RULEBOOK: Much of the information in the Klingon-themed core book is relevant to the 23rd century. Many of the spaceframes and characters presented in the book come from the century. Many of the mission briefs contained in the book are ideally designed to be placed in the 23rd century as well.
  • DISCOVERY (2256-2258) CAMPAIGN GUIDE / FEDERATION-KLINGON WAR TACTICAL CAMPAIGN: Both these books support the first two seasons of Star Trek: Discovery and provide a wealth of detail and options for the years 2256-2258. This helps to set up the periods of play thereafter, particularly with Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and the original series.
