  • 32 page Gamemaster booklet with tools and advice on creating and running a Dune: Adventures in the Imperium campaign. The booklet contains:
    • Adventures in the Imperium - a discussion of the themes and conflicts in Dune and how to use them in your campaign to create new adventures. Each theme comes with several scenario outlines.
    • Adventure Generator - based on the John Carter system this section offers a wealth of tables and charts to randomly create a Dune adventure and populate it with NPCs.
    • Intrigues - 4 ready-made intrigues that set up a situation for the player characters to investigate
    • Locations - 3 fully detailed locations, complete with NPCs and scenario hooks - a spice smuggler den, an underworld den in Arrakeen and a House Wakyu spacecraft for passage on a Guild Heighliner.

Fun thing to have, but not necessary

Do you need the DM toolkit to play the game? No.
Is it a useful thing and handy to have? Yes.

The DM screen has all the rules in concise form for easy reference with the core book page numbers for additional inquiries. This panel with the cheat sheets is honestly the best thing for me in this kit.
Note: these rule references are identical to those in the appendix of the core book, so this really is just another form to access the same information.

The provided booklet has some stroy hooks and generators as well as tools for making npcs on the fly. More likely you already have more than enough ideas of your own, so the usefulness of these hooks may vary.
Other than that the DM tools in the core book are really all you actually need to create and run a game.

All in all, it's just a bit of luxury, nothing groundbreaking.

The artwork with the map of Arrakis is quite nice, but I will nitpick that the compass rose in the corner has North pointing straight up, when the map literally has "North Pole" depicted right a the center...
