Game Designer
Modiphius Entertainment is a market-leading tabletop game publisher, which specialises in developing high-quality products with licensors and with original IPs. It is known for games like Star Trek Adventures, Fallout: Wasteland Warfare, and Fallout: Factions, Mass Effect: The Boardgame, and Terry Pratchett’s Discworld: Adventures in Ankh-Morpork. We have an exciting opportunity for a game designer who is looking to further their career and work with some of the biggest brands in the world.
Based in our Nottingham development studio, you will be responsible for designing board game, card game, and miniature game systems, mechanics, and creative content. You must work to understand the IPs and products involved to develop exciting, compelling, novel and profitable designs to make our games successful in the market. You will be responsible for the core mechanics and engines of our games, and for managing individual product designs from concept to fulfilment. Though this role is focused on board games, card games, and miniature games, experience with roleplaying games would be beneficial to an applicant.
This role reports to our Lead Game Designer. This position is for 40 hours per week, with allowance for home working, though you must be in person in the Nottingham studio as required (generally three days per week minimum).
Salary: £29,000-32,000 per annum (depending on experience); additional benefits include generous paid holiday allowance, incentive structure, and flexible working.
Location: Nottingham office, with some travel for events.

Role
- To design game systems, mechanics and creative content, creating the core game components of a product and ensuring the quality of Modiphius’ games is high.
Responsibilities
- Create core game mechanics and systems to design games and the frameworks for the design of games.
- Develop game content for products, including rules entries and prose writing.
- Coordinate with the Lead Game Designer and the Editorial Team on product development and direction.
- Know our IPs and game lines intimately to ensure that all products reflect the essential elements and design choices established.
- Participate in briefing meetings and agree or challenge briefs where appropriate.
- Compile a request list of assets for Creative Services and work with Creative Services to agree the final requirements for the briefs, and work with staff there to ensure that the visual and physical product matches the brief and concept as directed by the Brand team.
- Allocate game development tasks to other Game Designers and to Game Developers on products they are leading to ensure the smooth delivery of the project.
- Provide feedback to and work with the feedback from developers and other members of the team.
- Act as a subject matter expert on the products and IPs they have developed and worked on.
- Work with, or under the supervision of, the Lead or Senior Designers to create and outline product specifications and breakdowns for other Game Designers and Game Developers to work to (such as chapter breakdowns, board game component structures, etc).
- Check the quality and accuracy of materials during post-graphics reviews.
- Where required, create and contribute to system reference and resource documents.
- Contribute to and adhere to style guides.
- Contribute to the creation of marketing materials as suitable to role (such as development diaries, etc).
- Provide feedback to freelancers as to specifications and requirements of the product and IP.
- Coordinate and manage internal playtesting, and run external playtesting.
- Use project management software to track the team's workflow.
- Other responsibilities tied to the prior-established requirements of the role as assigned by your line manager.

Financial Controller
We are seeking an energetic and commercially minded Financial Controller to join our ambitious, fast-growing organisation. This is a newly created position that sits at the heart of our finance function, with direct reporting responsibility to the Directors.
Our activities span games and book publishing, distribution, product manufacture, and related consumer products. You will be stepping into a dynamic environment where no two days are alike, and where your contribution will be visible and valued from day one.
This role has primary responsibility for leading all aspects of the accounting function across three group entities. Your remit will include developing procedures and controls aligned to accounting standards and best practice to ensure the timely production of statutory and fiscal reporting, ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. You will also work closely with the team taking direct ownership of their development including the new post of a Senior Financial Analyst to help strengthen business performance insight.

We are seeking an energetic self-starter to join our finance team in a newly created part-time position. Reporting to the Financial Controller and working collaboratively with the Directors and project teams, this role is focused on driving performance and applying strong accounting discipline across our commercial ventures and projects. Initially this will be a six-months fixed contract.
Our activities span games and book publishing, distribution, product manufacture, and related consumer products. You will operate across three group entities — including a UK-based manufacturing company and a European commercial entity — in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your contribution will be visible and valued from day one.

Production Operative - Cornwall
We are seeking a motivated hard-working individual to join our growing team of resin figure manufacturers. We work in a quality driven environment and require someone with a high attention to detail to assist within the resin casting process.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Demoudling of cast resin parts.
- Quality control, checking cast parts.
- Achieving daily quota's of produced parts.
- Assembly of finished products.
- Assisting with the daily running of moulds.
- Opportunity available to learn the moudling and casting process
Workshop based in Lostwithiel in Cornwall, England all skills and training provided but existing knowledge of mould making and table top gaming is a great bonus.
