Let’s slingshot around the Sun and set course for 2018, when the first supplemental rulebook for the first edition of Star Trek Adventures released: The Command Division! The book provided a lot of new material for the game, including a wealth of lore concerning all things command division, expanded social conflict guidance, new character roles, additional spaceframes and shuttles, an assortment of new talents and example focuses, plot components, options for Admiralty-level games, and a wide variety of non-player characters.

The book holds a special place in my developer’s heart as it was the first Star Trek Adventures book I outlined and developed from start to finish. The format set the pattern for all three division books and gave me an opportunity to learn the ins and outs of project management, while also balancing writing, editing, art direction, and other roles simultaneously. It was a joy and challenge to work on.
For the release of the game’s second edition in 2024, we revised much of the book’s mechanical content for inclusion in the new core rulebook. The rest of it we held in reserve, waiting for a good time in which to release.
And that time is now.
I’m quite pleased to announce that Nathan Dowdell, 2d20 System Designer, and I (but mostly Nathan) combed through The Command Division and revised the remaining mechanical contents to the second edition standard, and compiled those revisions into a document you can download right now, for free. Whether you own the book or not, you can grab this free download and add a wealth of content to your second edition games right away.
And if you haven’t bought the book yet, there are still a few print copies available on the Modiphius.us store as of this writing, and the PDFs remain available for sale as well. The second edition revision document will be added to the download package for the book as well as the Star Trek Adventures download page.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this little trip through time and I hope you enjoy the free goodies contained in The Command Division download file. Now, let’s set course back to 2025. Don’t tell DTI about this little side trip…
