Today’s the big day: the global release of the new Star Trek Adventures Technical Manual! If you’re curious about the book, there are many reviews and previews of the book online and in the blog collection here on Modiphius.net, and ongoing discussion at the Modiphius Discord STA channel.
To celebrate the release, following is a bit of content that had to be cut for space late in the book’s developmental process, all about second contacts along with a couple more complication tables. The Technical Manual contains more information similar to this, along with dozens of complication tables to enrich your Star Trek Adventures (either edition) and Captain’s Log games. SUPPLIES
One way in which Starfleet maintains positive diplomatic relations is through the provision of various supplies to keep planets, colonies, and stations well-equipped in a resource-hungry Galaxy. Most Starfleet and Federation vessels contain expansive cargo holds.
When transporting large quantities of supplies, especially those that are perishable, over long distances, there are several critical considerations to ensure the integrity and safety of the cargo. A supply run could fail if the crew does not consider such factors as temperature control, packaging and handling, logistical planning, storage solutions, sanitation and hygiene, documentation and compliance, technology integration, or staff training and coordination.
Use the Supplies Needed table to determine what supplies an alien world, station, or colony might need. Roll more than once for situations where multiple supplies might be needed.
Use the Supply and Transport Complications table to determine what might go wrong when shipping supplies to worlds or people in need.
