The 23rd Century Campaign Guide for the Star Trek™ Adventures roleplaying game provides four chapters that present the century in four distinct sections; each has its own themes, tones, and opportunities for players and crews to boldly venture into the unknown, in classic Star Trek-style! Let’s talk about each period of play.

Chapter 2 starts off by covering one of the “lost eras” of the franchise, including the years 2200-2255 where the Federation survived a war against the Romulans and then enjoyed steady growth. This is a large swath of the canonical timeline largely untouched by any series or motion picture, and is ripe with storytelling possibilities for a gaming group. Like the other chapters, Chapter 2 is filled with information about the politics and technology of the period, as well as a selection of sidebars about key worlds, personalities, and events of the period.

Chapter 3 covers the dynamic years 2256 to 2258, when the Klingons and Federation found their cold war sparking into a brutal conflict that nearly destroyed the Federation. There is also the Red Angel crisis which erupted after the war and ended in the epic battle between the Control AI and the U.S.S. Enterprise and U.S.S. Discovery.

Chapter 4 covers the classic five-year mission period, 2259 through 2269, a period covered by Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Star Trek (the original series), and Star Trek: The Animated Series

Chapter 5 rounds out the discussion of the century, encompassing 2270 through 2299. It  covers the events of the first six motion pictures, including the V’ger crisis, the return of Khan Noonien Singh, the deeply personal Spock storyline, and the dramatic evolution of the relationship between the Federation and the Klingon Empire.
