To support the preorder launch of the new The 24th Century Campaign Guide for the Star Trek™ Adventures roleplaying game, let’s talk about some of the new character options contained in the guide.

 

Chapter 1 expands the second step of the lifepath found in the core rulebook, Environment, by providing greater detail for several homeworlds: Bajor, Cardassia Prime, Ferenginar, and Freecloud. The additional lore and closer focus on specific homeworlds give your characters the option to grow up on a different species’ homeworld, adding to the storytelling options about your character’s background and how it might have impacted their upbringing.

 

This guide further expands the scope of character possibilities by adding a new career option, the Vigilante. With this new career option, you can create characters who have chosen to fight for their people, their cause, or themselves, often outside the boundaries of laws, regulations, and their culture’s expectations. Characters such as Kira Nerys, B’Elanna Torres (during her time with the Maquis), and Seven of Nine (when she joined the Fenris Rangers) are examples of vigilantes.

 

Chapter 1 also includes fourteen new Career Events for your character’s lifepath, all of which are oriented around specific canonical events from the 24th century, such as the Tomed Incident, the Klingon Civil War, the Reman coup, and the synth attack on Mars. Consider adding these career events to your character if you want them to be connected to some of the many significant events we’ve seen on screen.

 

 Chapter 1 closes out with a discussion on psychological trauma, seven new character talents, and six new starship talents. All these options were developed to enhance your games and campaigns, and provide greater potential for characters and starships.
