Gamemaster Advice for the 23rd Century

Last week we discussed the player advice contained in The 23rd Century Campaign Guide, currently up for preorder. Now, let’s discuss Chapter 7, which includes advice for gamemasters preparing or running an adventure or campaign set in this century.

Just as Chapter 6 is divided into four sections, covering each of the main periods of play, Chapter 7 is broken up into four sections, each discussing a specific period of play and providing advice on the themes and tones of its respective section. Each section offers a suggested list of campaign styles you might consider using which fit the overall scope of that period of play.

The advice in Chapter 6 was designed to help you and your fellow players create characters, adventures, and campaigns that fit into the 23rd century and in specific periods within it. In this way, campaigns set in the early years of the century will carry a different storytelling feel and weight compared to adventures run during the classic five-year mission period or the dynamic latter part of the century, where wild, cinematic events occurred.

Which period of the 23rd century are you most excited to run adventures in? What elements of the 23rd century are you planning to fold into your adventures or campaign? How else are you planning to use The 23rd Century Campaign Guide? Share your ideas and insights with your fellow fans at the official Modiphius Discord!
