Welcome agents. Today kicks off our first ever Achtung! Cthulhu event, the Winter of Fear, a six-week long celebration of all things Achtung! Cthulhu, leading up to the release of our epic Forest of Fear campaign.
Make sure you visit our new Winter of Fear hub for all the details!
We’ll have a raft of new releases to fuel your Winter of Fear, plus community events, special offers, competitions and prizes. In short, a whole bunch of goodies to give your Achtung! Cthulhu adventures a true kiss of winter.
Let’s break it down.
We start today with two brand new releases. First up we have our FREE Halloween Horrors PDF on Net, US and DriveThruRPG stores, which contains five chilling NPCs for you to use in your Achtung! Cthulhu missions and campaigns. Ranging from Sehkheferu, the Forgotten Pharoah, to the Andreassen werewolves, and encompassing the sinister Jacques Lauterne, the terrifying Barghest, and the chilling Blood Harlequin, these should provide you with ample sources of fear to help terrorise your agents!
But we also want you to take them away, study them and then tell us how you’re going to use them in your games. Send us a short scene, mission outline, or scenario of under 200 words featuring one of the horrors and we’ll be awarding prizes and best of all, updating the PDF to immortalise the best of your creations, putting your name in lights with a full credit.
Send your entries to support@modiphius.com with the Subject line Halloween Horrors and we’ll be selecting the best ones and announcing the winners in our Halloween AMA (see below).
We’re also releasing a brand new PDF mission, Operation: Fallen Star by Patrick McNally on Net, US and DriveThruRPG stores. Embark on a race against time across the frozen seas to Olivia Island, an abandoned Black Sun weather station, to uncover its secrets. Can your agents survive the harsh weather conditions, probe the mysteries of the weather station, and with German occult forces closing in, discover the truth about what lies in the enigmatic treasure vault at its heart?
We’ll be following this up with a weekly prize giveaway throughout the Winter of Fear, where you can win books, PDFs and other great prizes, so keep an eye on our social media channels for how to enter.
It wouldn’t be a celebration without a special offer too, so we’ve dropped the price of the mighty Black Sun Exarch’s Edition by 25% on both Net and US stores for this period. We’ll also be offering a discount of 25% on all Achtung! Cthulhu PDFs on DriveThruRPG and unveiling some more bundles on Halloween.
On 31st October itself, we’ll be returning for a special Halloween AMA hosted on our Discord channel, where we’ll be reviewing your Halloween Horrors suggestions, awarding prizes, talking about what’s coming up in the Winter of Fear and answering any questions you have.
Shortly after that, on Thursday November 3rd, our good friends over at Garblag Games will be hosting a Live Play Preview of the Forest of Fear itself. Join GM Matt Jowett, plus a select crew of agents, for a weekly episode at 9pm CST on the Garblag Twitch channel where they’ll be exploring the first few missions. You can also catch replays on their YouTube channel and our Winter of Fear Hub Page.
Finally, all of this leads up to the release of our first epic late war campaign the Forest of Fear itself! We’ll be releasing the pre-order for this on Halloween night and you’ll get the PDF to read right away. We’re currently finalising things, but first print copies are expected to ship in December in Europe and Q1 in the US. Here are first details.
Launch yourself into an epic late Secret War adventure that takes you inside the secret offensive within the Battle of the Bulge.
- Battle against both the Nazi occult and an ancient evil lurking beneath the forest’s boughs
- 11 awesome missions await, taking you from your first steps beneath the trees, to an ancient Elder Thing undercity, a cursed monastery, and an epic finale at the Blackbird’s Nest
- Comes with a FREE PDF for the prologue mission Assault on the Fuhrer Train a 50-page standalone adventure which sees resistance agents raid Hitler’s personal armoured express!
- An array of awesome art, maps, playing aids, GM tips and handouts bring the Forest of Fear to life!
Capping off the event in late November, will also be another FREE PDF, more of which will be revealed in the fullness of time. Suffice to say, it’ll make an ideal playground for your Halloween Horrors to rove around in and create mayhem, as well as being a standalone location you can use for your own campaigns.
That’s all for now, agents, keep your eyes open for more Winter of Fear details coming soon!
